Empowering the next generation of storytellers.
Our Vision
Creating change through storytelling
The Center for Journalism Ethics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is launching an innovative Summer Institute for Wisconsin high school students. Inspired by the transformative power of nonfiction storytelling, we aim to nurture young communicators to lift their voices.
During a dynamic two-week program led by faculty and storytelling experts, students will gain hands-on experience in ethical storytelling through workshops, community engagement, and collaboration with news organizations, focusing on real-life issues and solutions.
What We Do
Inspire, empower, support
We are committed to:
- Equipping students with tools to tell engaging non-fiction stories that spark social change.
- Building digital communications skills.
- Embedding ethics in public communication by emphasizing integrity, empathy and cross-cultural competencies.
This initiative stands as a beacon for ethical storytelling, empowering young storytellers of today and shaping the narrative of tomorrow.
Our Values
Centering collaboration
Proudly partnering with UW PEOPLE Program (Pre-college Enrichment Opportunity Program for Learning Excellence), we extend our resources to ensure students receive unparalleled support and mentorship, including:
- Enhanced understanding of social issues through storytelling.
- Development of comprehensive multimedia skills.
