Jill Geisler

Jill Geisler is a clinical professor of leadership, journalism and ethics at Loyola University of Chicago’s School of Communication. She also served for a decade as Loyola’s inaugural Bill Plante Chair in Leadership and Media Integrity. Geisler teaches and coaches current and aspiring newsroom leaders worldwide. Prior to joining Loyola, she spent 16 years guiding the leadership and management programs of the Poynter Institute. Her first career was in broadcast journalism as a reporter, photographer, producer and anchor – and one of the first female TV news directors in the United States at WITI-TV in Milwaukee. In that role, she created a culture of award-winning journalism with a focus on enterprise, ethical decision-making and fun. Those values underpin her teaching today. She is the author of the book “Work Happy: What Great Bosses Know” and more than 500 columns on leadership and management. Geisler has been inducted into multiple media halls of fame. She holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from UW–Madison and a masters in leadership studies from Duquesne University.
