Prof. Ward to speak on Global Journalism Ethics in a Post-9/11 World

Stephen Ward will speak at the Overture Center in Madison, Wisconsin on Tuesday, November 15, 2011, 7-8:30 pm, as part of the Wisconsin Academy of Sciences, Arts and Letters’  series on Perspectives on a Post- 9/11 World.

Since 9/11, a global, networked media of amateurs, citizens and professional journalists has evolved in a chaotic borderless media-saturated world where “parochial ethics” can lead to bad coverage of humanitarian crises, climate change, even decisions to go to war. Author of the award-winning The Invention of Journalism Ethics: The Path to Objectivity and Beyond (2005) and Global Journalism Ethics (2010), Stephen J. A. Ward argues for a new journalism ethics and a complete revamping of how we think about the responsibilities of media in this new world.
